Chapter Leadership Roles

President – The President is the chief executive officer of the association and is charged with ensuring the by-laws are followed.  In addition, the President serves as the primary liaison with SHRM and presides over meetings of the Board of Directors. 

President-Elect – The President-Elect exercises the powers of the President in the event the President is absent or is unable to act. 

Past President – The Past President provides leadership continuity from year-to-year by advising the President and providing assistance to the Board as needed.

Secretary – The Secretary keeps an accurate record of acts and proceedings of the Board of Directors.  

Treasurer – The Treasurer shall have custody of all funds and securities belonging to the Association and receives, deposits or disburses funds under the direction of the Board. 

Membership VP – The VP of Membership is responsible for membership services and growth of the association.  

Programs VP – The VP of Programs chairs the Program Committee and oversees the planning and coordination of all professional development programs sponsored by the association. 

Diversity Chair – The Diversity Chair is charged with ensuring the programs and membership are aware and address ever changing diversity issues. 

College Relations Chair – The College Relations Chair works closely with local and regional institutions of higher education to drawer students into the membership of the association

HR Certification Chair – The HR Certification Chair works closely with the Programs VP and is responsible for submitting program descriptions to HRCI for certification credit. 

SHRM Foundation Chair – The SHRM Foundation Chair works with the membership of the association to promote the works of the SHRM Foundation and supports raising funds to contribute to the Foundation. 

Government Affairs – The Governmental Affairs Chair is tasked with staying abreast of recent legislative discussions and changes and communicating the information to the membership. 

Communications Chair – The Communications Chair is tasked with creating monthly newsletters and sending requested communications to the membership. 

Social media Chair – The Social Media Chair is tasked with using all modes of social media to keep the membership abreast of pertinent information and activities of the association. 

Sponsorship Chair – The Sponsorship Chair works closely with local companies to solicit support for the association and ensure the membership is aware of the services provided by the sponsors. 

Smoky Mountain Chapter Liaison – The SMHRA Liaison serves on the leadership team of the Satellite chapter and represents the perspective chapter at board meetings and communicating information about the association’s business back to the satellite chapter. 

Web Master – The Web Master is responsible for keeping the website current, addressing any website issues or member accessibility issues.
