Program Title:   Raising Awareness about Intimate Partner Abuse in the Workplace


Program Description:  Raising Awareness about Intimate Parter Abuse in the Workplace is a one-hour interactive presentation that introduces participants to best practices they can use to create awareness and policies that appropriately address domestic violence in the workplace.


Program Objectives:

  • Defining intimate partner abuse
  • Exploring common beliefs about domestic abuse
  • How intimate partner abuse affects the workplace
  • Recognizing the levels of violence and appropriate responses
  • Emergency response
  • Interacting with victims


Speaker Bio:

Amber Beane is the new Community Engagement Specialist with Helpmate. Amber received her B.S in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her M.A. in Health Education and Promotion from East Carolina University. She is currently finishing her education doctorate at East Tennessee State University. As a mother of four, Amber is passionate about health and wellness, and safety for all. When she isn’t studying or buried in research, Amber can be found in a CrossFit gym, her favorite pastime. Amber lives in Asheville, NC with her husband Mark and their three daughters, one son, and a myriad of furry family members.
